Autism Masks
These masks were designed for the Just Another Midwest Asset Jam, September 2023, for the theme "Mask."

They are designed to reflect my own experiences with the phenomenon of "autistic masking": techniques by which autistic people attempt to appear neurotypical. From left to right, they were inspired by forced eye contact, not speaking out of turn or rambling, and properly emoting. They can be viewed in greater detail here.

Trick or Treat!
At the time I illustrated this, I was fascinated by old covers of the Saturday Evening Post painted by Rockwell and Leyendecker, and wanted to try to make something that made use of that classic Americana, emphasizing elements I felt particularly drawn to.

I'm particularly proud of how the fabric for the dress (based on that worn by the twins in the famous Diane Arbus photograph) turned out. I focused on capturing the candlelight playing off the folds of a dark, velvety fabric. In general, the materials and their rendering are what I'm most proud of in this painting.

astyanax Mexicanus
The astyanax mexicanus, also known as the blind cave fish or the Mexican tetra, is an eyeless, cave-dwelling variety of the freshwater tetra.
​
Due to spending their lives in the darkness of caves, these fish have evolved to no longer need eyes, as without light for them to be useful, they are an unnecessary expenditure of energy.
​
Another in my animal illustration series, here I opted to abstract the scales through using a textured brush.

Archmage Jameelah
This character design was done for a personal project meant to keep me flexible across the workflows for game development.
The goal was to familiarize myself with the interface for Clip Studio Paint, to practice rendering materials like fabric and metals, and to design an appealing character using a limited color palette.
​
Jameelah is an NPC for a fantasy farming simulator, offering the player her services as a master of conjuration to summon spirits to work their farm for them as a time-saving measure. She's quirky, energetic, and grandmotherly.
